Ripple: New Work, New Ground

Ripple: a wavy, undulating movement. A sound or emotion that spreads over the body 36×48 oil and cold wax on birch

I am so pleased to share that I have a new body of work coming to Calgary this spring and with it, a new medium.

After completing a large commission for Canoe Hotel in Banff, I found myself ready for a new challenge. That search led me to oil and cold wax.  A process as meditative as it is demanding. Layers are built up over days, then carved back into with various tools. The result feels less like making and more like excavation, like listening. Learning this medium has asked for real trust and patience, the kind required of any new skill, and that vulnerability has been part of the work itself.

The exhibition also features new acrylic paintings inspired by an artist's retreat to Oaxaca, Mexico. Across both, line is at the heart of everything. I invite you to slow down, to spend time with these works, to be present, a rare thing in this busy world.
